Adsorption is an exothermic process and desorption is an endothermic process. However, as long as the concentration of adsorbate is small, the adsorption heat and desorption heat are not large, so PSA can still be regarded as isothermal process. Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) is usually operated at room temperature without heating, so it has a short cycle and is easy to realize automation. It is especially suitable for large-scale gas separation production process.
